TENT is here to help.

A community of elders and neighbors supporting one another

Mission Statement

To connect members to resources needed to maintain comfortable, dignified, vibrant lives in their homes and community by providing appropriate services, activities, and programs that will further this purpose.

Food Support

There are food banks at St James Church on Thursday afternoons, in Questa, and at El Pueblito on alternate Wednesdays.

New Mexico is giving out cards worth $100 at local Farmers' Markets. See Taos News, February 15.
Apply at Senior Center Ancianos, or online here, or call (505)-469-0548.

Virus and Influenza

Mask mandates have been reinstated in healthcare systems across several U.S. states as cases and hospitalizations of respiratory illnesses—including Covid, the flu and RSV – continue to increase nationwide.

TENT (Taos Elders and Neighbors Together) strongly recommends wearing a face mask when in close proximity to other people in closed spaces — especially spaces with poor ventilation. (Air filters improve ventilation.)

These spaces include automobiles and residences. Auto heating should be set for fresh air, rather than recirculating air. Member should sit in the back seat.

Recirculate: Recirculate    Fresh: Fresh air

TENT needs your help to help others.

Many elders in Taos have difficulty living alone without help. We are a community of elders and neighbors who will provide social contacts, transportation, minor home repairs, and caregiver relief. Would you like to help?

Volunteer Services

We have dozens of volunteers who have offered to provide transportation, social contact, minor home repairs, and caregiver relief.

Volunteers all have background screening and go through an orientation. We do not provide any medical services.

We started providing services in October 2018 and are always looking for new volunteers. Sign up here.

TENT is located on the land and territories of Indigenous peoples. Taos is the traditional homelands to Taos Pueblo, the Red Willow People. TENT respectfully acknowledges the original inhabitants of these lands where we live and work and recognizes both that they still reside in the area, and their continuing connection to land, waters, and community. We honor the impact of their wisdom, generosity, and sacrifice since time immemorial. We pay our respects to them and their culture and to Elders both past and present.
